Steam Cleaning vs. Hot Water Extraction

Steam Cleaning is actually a coined term that was used for marketing purposes, the actual method is called Hot Water Extraction. During the extraction process of cleaning, we use high pressure, very hot water to spray onto the carpet and sometimes you can see an almost steam like action from the wand. During this process, there is a strong vacuum that extracts the hot water and debris in the carpet.

Aside from Vacuuming, the second most important way to keep your Carpet Fibers from breaking down is to have them Hot Water Extracted. Carpet Manufacturers, like Shaw,  recommend Hot Water Extraction every 12 to 18 months to keep your carpets free of the oily, sticky soil that vacuums can't take out.
